Henry Mariano Derige

Henry Mariano Derige, beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on March 10, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, he was the cherished son of Dolores (Zamora) Derige and Mariano Derige.

Henry was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1968, and went on to earn his degree from Michigan State University. He built a long and dedicated career with Consumers Energy, where he worked with commitment and integrity until his retirement in 2012.

Henry lived a full and vibrant life, guided by curiosity, creativity, and deep love for his family. He found joy in fishing, watching sports, playing guitar, and spending long hours immersed in his art and poetry. His granddaughters were the center of his world, and he took great delight in sharing his music, stories, and creativity with them. A longtime member of Saginaw’s Cuong-Nhu Martial Arts, he proudly passed on his love of the discipline to his granddaughter Alia. He also cherished watching Mia and Alia sing and dance, playing cards with his sisters, and gathering with loved ones to share stories, laughter, and memories.

Henry was known for always having advice to share—sometimes invited, sometimes not— for standing firmly in his beliefs and being an occasional perfectionist. His quick wit, ironic humor, and belly laugh made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. A dreamer at heart, he was always envisioning bright possibilities for his family’s future.

Henry leaves behind a devoted family who will forever celebrate his life: his sisters, Diana Psetas (the late George Psetas), Delia Derige (the late Gary Parsh), and Michele Derige; his brother, Paul Derige (Rosie McGraw Derige); his daughter, Diana Nicole Derige, and her husband, Luis M. Pagán; and his treasured granddaughters, Alia Iselle Derige-Pagán and Mia Mariana Derige-Pagán. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will hold his memory close. He was welcomed into eternal life by his parents and his brothers, Henry Carlos Derige and Mike Z. Derige.

Henry will be remembered as a man deeply loved, respected, and admired. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
