Helen “Marie” Erskine of Hemlock, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at her home at the age of 92 years. Marie was born on February 6, 1931, in Croswell, Michigan, the daughter of the late Emerson and Lucy Pearl (Dawson) Roth. She was a co-owner and operator of Erskine Heating, Plumbing & Air Condition for many years. Marie was a longtime and faithful member of Hemlock United Methodist Church. Active throughout her life, she found peace and tranquility in the outdoors, especially fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, and her daily two-mile walks throughout the Village of Hemlock. Marie also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and spending time with her family and friends at her little piece of heaven, Higgins Lake. Above all she treasured and cherished her family.

Surviving are four daughters: Christine Marcotte, Patricia Zimmerman, Gail Wolgast, and Vick (Tom) Ewald; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Ernie Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Pearl Roth; sisters, Shirley Alcanter and Betty Campbell; brother-in-law, Ernie Campbell; son-in-law, Patrick Wolgast; and a great-grandson, Ashton Smith.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for the special care they provided to Marie and the entire family.

Honoring Marie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Four Points United Methodist Church, Hemlock Campus, 406 W. Saginaw Street. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Hemlock United Methodist Church.
