Obituary

Guillermina “Sue” Isqueirdo Romero, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2025. She was born on October 1, 1944, in Saginaw, Michigan, to William and Guadalupe (Isqueirdo) Castanon. In November of 1962, she married the love of her life, Ernesto Romero, Sr., and together they built a beautiful life centered around family, love, and community.

To all who knew her, Guillermina was the heart of the neighborhood—the mom to everyone. Her door was always open, and her kitchen was always warm. She often rose before dawn to prepare generous batches of her beloved Mexican rice and homemade tortillas, ensuring that anyone who arrived hungry left feeling cared for. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional welcome.

Guillermina found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved dancing to her favorite Mexican music, trying her luck at the casino, and indulging in the occasional scratch-off ticket. Sundays were reserved for watching Mass from her favorite chair, a quiet ritual she cherished. One of her most treasured traditions was calling each family member on their birthday to sing to them—an act of love they will forever hold close. To her family and friends, she was caring, generous, glamorous, and unforgettable.

She leaves behind a legacy carried on by her children: Elizabeth Rodriguez, Michael (Ester) Romero, Aleta (Mark Bashans) Romero, Ernesto Romero, Jr., John (Tracy) Romero, and Kathie Jo (Cedric Porter) Romero; her grandchildren: Michael, Sara, Anthony, Monica, Ashley, Ashton, Aleta, Erica, Eric, Jon’quesha, Aysia, Ernest Jr., Colleen, Alex, Anton, Brittany, Robert, and Kaleb; her brother Frank Castanon; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.

She is reunited in heaven with her parents; her beloved husband; her siblings Maryann, Reyna, Lupe, Bill, Juaqin, Onesimo, and an infant sibling; her son Robert “Budda” Romero; and her son-in-law Eduardo Rodriguez.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Family and friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Angela Curry will officiate.
