Obituary

Gonzalo “Charley” Reyna Jr., 60, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, following a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, love, and dedication to his family.

Charley was born in Carrollton, Michigan on October 13, 1965, and was the beloved son of Guadalupe (Cadena) Reyna and the late Gonzalo Reyna Sr. Throughout his life, Charley worked in a variety of roles. He spent many years as a car salesman. Later, he dedicated a significant part of his career to Nexteer.

On December 16, 2006, Charley married the love of his life, Kari (Venema) Reyna. Kari survives him, along with his cherished daughters Isabella and Amelia Reyna, and stepdaughter Kasi Venema, whom he loved as his own. Charley is also survived by his mother Guadalupe Reyna; sisters Raquel Reyna, Christina (Mark) Findlay, his father-in-law David Venema; brother-in-law Tom (Melanie) Venema, and beloved uncle Ernesto Garcia.

He was preceded in death by his father Gonzalo Reyna Sr.; mother-in-law Kathi Venema; two infant nieces Sarah and Alyssa Venema; and best friends Dennis Sprague Jr. and Michael Polluch.

Charley will be remembered for his big heart, his love for comic books and records, and the way he made everyone around him feel seen and valued. He leaves behind a family who will forever hold him close in their hearts and countless friends grateful for the time they shared with him.

The funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave, Saginaw, MI 48602, where friends may gather with the family from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate the service, with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the family for his daughters Isabella, Amelia and Kasi. Donations should be directed to their mother Kari Reyna.

Arrangements were entrusted to W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Please share your thoughts and memories of Charley at the church or by visiting www.casefuneralhome.com.
