Gloria
Rumph
August 9, 1945 – May 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Jean Rumph, who peacefully departed this life on May 21, 2026, in Saginaw, Michigan. Born on August 9, 1945, in Huntingdon, Tennessee, to C.Z. and Irene (Cogdell) Burton, Gloria lived a life marked by purpose, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Gloria’s deep faith guided her throughout her life. A long-time and devoted member of Bethel AME Church, she served faithfully on both the Usher Board and the Missionary Board. Her commitment to service, paired with her warm and welcoming spirit, made her a beloved presence within her church family and community.
Outside of her church work, Gloria embraced the joys of life with enthusiasm. She loved a good shopping trip—especially to Macy’s, her favorite store—and proudly held the title of “QVC Queen.” She enjoyed treating herself to manicures and pedicures, savoring good music, and sharing meals at her favorite restaurants. In her younger years, she traveled often and contributed meaningfully through her work with FEMA. Gloria was known for her strong will and her ability to make her voice heard, yet she will be remembered just as deeply for the love, care, and loyalty she showed her family.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who survive her: her devoted daughter, Kendra Rumph; her brother, Kevin (Roslyn) Burton; her grandchildren, Andre, Adrian, and Jalen; her niece, Rochelle Steed; and her nephews, Kevin Jr., Justin, and Jordan. Gloria’s presence brought joy, comfort, and strength to all who knew her, and she will be profoundly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
In accordance with Gloria’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy may consider a donation to her family, c/o Kendra Rumph.
