Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed away on December 11, 2020 at the age of 83 years.
The son of the late Charles Louis and Francis “Cy” (Ashworth) Rhyan was born on October 12, 1937 in Saginaw. Gerald graduated from Saginaw High School the class of 1955 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He married Barbara Sonefeld on May 16, 1959; she predeceased him on June 2, 2015. He retired from Buick in Flint after many years of service. He was a member of the VFW, Bridgeport Gun Club and Eagles Club. Gerald enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Surviving are his children: Dennis Alan (Joanna) Rhyan, David James (Anne) Rhyan, Dayna Jo (Gene) Leinberger, his grandchildren: Jarod Rhyan, Felicia Leinberger, Carley Leinberger, April (Shane) Satkowiak, R. J. Charbonneau and Brooke (Drew) Barnhill, his great-grandchildren: Cayden Davies, Darian Barnhill, Josh Charbonneau, Jace Charbonneau, his brother Donald Rhyan, his sister-in-law, Vonnie Rhyan, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Two brothers predeceased him: Robert Rhyan, Richard Rhyan.
Friends may visit at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a private family service to follow with burial at Pinegrove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Pursuant to the current state orders indoor building capacity is limited to 25, face masks are required, and social distancing encouraged.
