Gerald “Jerry” A. Meyer of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Bickford Assisted Living in Saginaw. He was 82 years old. Gerald A. Meyer was born on November 29, 1943, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Alexander and Virginia (Gnotek) Meyer. He was a 1961 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, he was the first class to attend Delta College where he studied architecture. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1966 to 1972, until his honorable discharge. He serendipitously met the love of his life, Andrea. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on December 19, 2003; she survives him. A gifted and talented painter, Jerry worked for his grandfather, father and uncles at the family business, Adam Meyer & Son’s. He later became the owner and operator of Meyer Painting and Decorating serving people and business throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. Jerry was a charter member and usher at Resurrection Lutheran Church and a current member of Peace Lutheran Church where he volunteered his time painting and helping wherever needed. He civically served his community as a member of American Legion Post #439, Saginaw Fordney Club, Saginaw Field and Stream, Germania Golf and Country Club, and Sawmill Golf Club. He volunteered at the Saginaw Children’s Zoo, painting the carousel horses and various other projects, and the Saginaw Food Pantry. An avid outdoorsman, Jerry’s little piece of heaven was spending time with his family, especially hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Sand Lake and vacationing at Pass-a-Grille in Florida. Jerry also enjoyed golfing and bowling. An excellent craftsman, he spent countless hours woodworking in his shop, building, creating, and refinishing his works of art over the years. Jerry would often donate his woodworking projects to various places. What truly made his heart feel full was spending time with his family, longtime friends, and forming lifelong bonds with every grandchild. He will forever be remembered for being a kind, gentle, and loving man, dedicated and loyal to his family and friends, and gentle and generous to anyone in need.
Surviving are his loving wife of 23 years, Andrea L. Meyer of Saginaw; three sons: Stephen (Shannon) Meyer, Daniel Mire, and David Meyer; two stepchildren: Mark (Kimberly) Warner and Laura (Gavin) Goetz; seven grandchildren: Alexander, Zachary, Spencer, Evan, Ethan, Katherine, Maggie, and Maggie’s mother, Brandi Mire; a sister, JoAnn Kolar; brother-in-law, Charles Hansen. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Alexander and Virginia Meyer; sister, Shirley Herbert; brother-in-law, Fred Kolar; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Hansen and Paula (Ben) Webb.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice and Bickford of Saginaw for all the love and care they provided to Jerry and the family.
