Gerald "Jerry" Steven Hrinik

Gerald “Jerry” Steven Hrinik, age 85, of Holt, Michigan, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024. 

Jerry was born in Saginaw on December 14, 1938, the son of the late Steven Stanley Hrinik and Elsie Lena (Gedel) Hrinik. He graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw. After high school, he attended Concordia College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduating on June 6, 1958. After graduating from Concordia College, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 19, 1960. On April 14, 1961, he completed a Bulgarian Language Course through Syracuse University, Detachment One Headquarters, 3345^th Technical School, USAF. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on July 14, 1964. He then attended Wayne State University, where he received his B.A. in History. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. He worked as a financial manager for State Farm in Chicago, Illinois, retiring in 2003. Following retirement he moved to Ft. Myers, Florida. While in Ft. Myers, he volunteered at Lovers Key State Park, where he eradicated invasive species. Jerry was also an avid golfer and a supporter of the arts. 

Jerry is survived by his sisters, Joan Wolf and Trudy Moggo; foster son, James Ziegler and his wife Santittá; sister-in-law, Arlene Hrinik; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, William and Dale Hrinik; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Wolf and Jerry Moggo.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will be held later.
