George William Kipfmiller

Merrill, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at his home. Age 85 years.

The son of the Alfred William and Selma Ann (Knoerr) Kipfmiller, George was born on September 9, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur Hill Tech and High School. George proudly served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann Cibulka on May 11, 1963. They shared many wonderful years together. She survives him. George retired as a machine repairman from Eaton Manufacturing after many years of loyal and dedicated service. Following his retirement, he served as a building inspector for various townships in Saginaw County and continued to serve as the zoning administrator for the Village of Merrill. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wheeler, where he served in various roles, including elder. George enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and woodworking, crafting many projects over the years. He was especially known for his legendary fish fries, shared with family and friends at his home and during travels to Gladwin, Florida, and Texas.

Surviving besides his wife, Mary Ann Kipfmiller; sons and daughters, Sherry (Brian) Hirst, Troy (Tonya) Kipfmiller, Jodi (Dave) Schod, Kevin (Mellissa) Kipfmiller, David (Julie) Kipfmiller; grandchildren, Kellie, Ryan, Erica, Ashley, Adrian, Erin, Justin, Nathan, Sydney, Noah, Zachary, Anna, Jacob; step-grandchildren, Zane, Dakota, Cheyenne; ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda (Lee) Wenzel, Linda Kipfmiller, Dorothy (Don) Turrell, David (Debbie) Cibulka, and Pete Garthe. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, David Kipfmiller, Stanley Kipfmiller; sister-in-law, Fran Garthe; brother-in-law, Frank Cibulka; and nephew.

Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 10020 E. Monroe Rd, Wheeler, MI 48662. Rev. Michael Podeszwa will officiate with cremation to follow. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy and American Legion Post 925. Burial will take place at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
