George Peter Capitan of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Covenant HealthCare - Harrsion. He was 96 years old. George Peter Capitan was born on July 5, 1927, in Owosso, Michigan, to the late Peter and Pagona (Lamprakis) Capitan. He was a proud 1945 graduate of Owosso High School. Following graduation, George honorably served his country in the United State Navy stationed in the Philippines at the end of World War I. Upon his return, he attended Western Michigan University, UCLA, Southern California, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Michigan State University. He met the love of his life, Elizabeth Louise Fehrenbacher, and immediately knew she was his soul mate. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on June 16, 1952, she preceded him in death. He was employed as a stockbroker and vice president with Merrill Lynch in Saginaw, Michigan from 1956 until his retirement in 1988. The role of his lifetime, and one he truly treasured and cherished, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. George was a longtime member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. He enjoyed spending time golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family. George had a special place in his heart for animals, but truly loved all his German Shepards.

Surviving are two daughters: Ann E. (John) Klink of Hemlock; Susan (Todd) Konsdorf of Saginaw; four grandchildren: Jason Teske, Jeff Teske, Sarah (Wayne) Mays, and Rachel Konsdorf; six great-grandchildren: Hailey Scott, Clara Scott, Emma Mays, Silas Scott, Eli Mays, and Michael Teske. Also surviving are many adored nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Pagona Capitan and his brothers and sisters.
