Our loving brother and uncle passed away on May 24, 2025. Age 79 years.

Gary was born on August 29, 1945, son of the late Russell and Charlena (Wilkinson) Root, in Saginaw. He was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, Class of 1964. He retired from Severance Tool Industries after many years of dedicated service. Gary loved listening to music and was quite the social butterfly. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with his family. Gary loved life, his family, was very thoughtful and giving.

Gary is survived by his sisters and brothers, Loretta (John) Davisson, Glen (Patrica) Root, Marian (Gary) Bowman, Larry (Dorothy) Root, Darlene (Tom) Merrow, Charlene (Jeffrey) Fox, Kenneth (Rose) Root, Richard (Patricia) Root and Elaine (Raymond) Hollerback; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his special friend, Janet.

Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company, 5700 Dixie Highway. Chaplain Chris Tennant will officiate with burial in Wilkinson Cemetery, Corunna, MI. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
