Gary McElhaney Marion Springs, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper, with his family at his side. At the age of 59 years. The son of the late William and Dorothy (McGuire) McElhaney, was born on July 22, 1960 in LaFayette, Georgia. He graduated from Macon County High School. Gary served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1981 to 1989. He worked for many years of service as a welder for Eugene Welding Co. Gary was a member of the Michigan Trappers Association for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman; Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Above all, Gary cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are one son and two daughters, Wayne (April) McElhaney, Alecia McElhaney (Patrick Jewell), Melissa Emmendorfer; five grandchildren, Liam, Maverick, Autumn, Willow and Hazel McElhaney; one brother and five sisters, Brenda Laramore, Michael McElhaney, Renee Weeden, Linda McElhaney, Karen Stoneman and Wanda Gilbert. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents, Gary is preceded in death by a brother, Ron McElhaney, and a sister, Sheira Goodwin.

Honoring Garys wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Jonesfield Township Hall, 217 N. Eddy Street, Merrill; with Military Honors under the auspices of the United States Air Force and VFW Post 7302. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel.
