Frederick “Fred” Wallace Schnell of Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Center in Saginaw, Michigan. He was 83 years old. Frederick Wallace Schnell was born on November 2, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Frederick and Marion Ruth (Grunwell) Schnell. He was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Fred began working at the family business, Schnell’s Body Shop, at 1225 S. Water Street, Saginaw, for almost 24 years. His passion was flying his gyrocopter and was a member of the PRA (Popular Rotorcraft Association), and the Bay Area Rotorcraft Association. He had a meticulous eye for detail and was gifted at bumping and painting and restoring custom cars, vans, and dune buggies.

Surviving are two sons: Scott Schnell of Kochville Township; Rick (Jennifer) Schnell of Brant; five grandchildren: Sydney Schnell of Brant; Coty Schnell of Hemlock; Loyad Schnell of Hemlock; Jd Schnell of Kochville Township; Rick Schnell of Hemlock; one great-grandson, Jaxsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Marion Schnell.

Honoring the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Private services will take at a later date.
