Frederick James “Fred” Evans originally of Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Huron Wood Nursing Center. He was 87 years old. Frederick James Evans was born on February 23, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Frederick and Mary (Podojak) Evans. He was employed with General Motors as an electrician through Grey Iron and Nodular Iron, retiring after 38 years of loyal and dedicated service. Hard-working, Fred loved his job and recalled assisting in building the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Fred was a proud member of the Saginaw Gun Club. An avid big game hunter, he traveled across the world to Moscow, Quebec, and Wyoming, taking in the beauty of wildlife and nature. Fred also enjoyed hunting deer in Michigan’s upper peninsula. He was a competitive skeet shooter throughout Michigan. In his free time, Fred enjoyed weightlifting, especially at Old Towns Gym in Bay City where he made countless friends. He lived a big life. What truly made his heart feel full was his love for all the dogs he owned, as well as his little piece of heaven living on the bay.

Surviving are Rebecca L. Evans of Saginaw; three daughters: his devoted and loving daughter to her hero, Megan R. Evans and her companion, Chris Page; Kimberly Evans and Beth Pemberton; a stepson, Scott (Dawn) Moe; several grandchildren; a sister, Gwen Bakus of Saginaw; and his extended Dake family. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Mary Evans; and infant twin siblings.

Honoring Fred’s wishes, cremation has taken place with no services planned. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw Gun Club.
