Went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, November 13, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital. Age 92 years. The daughter of the late Cruz Martinez and Fernando Garcia Samaniego was born March 9, 1924 in Dallas, Texas. She married Daniel Hernandez. November 5, 1943. He passed away August 1, 1994. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. Surviving are five children, Santa S. Hernandez; Gloria Hernandez; Dora Vela; Juan Hernandez, Sr; Jose Hernandez and his wife, Gail; 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Amparo Gonzales; Juan and Dahlia Samaniego; Chevela and Geronimo Flores; Delores Ramirez; Laurie and Raymond Dzuba; Rosie Valdez; many nieces and nephews. She was predecease by two daughters, Delma Flores and Minerva Vela in 2015 and two brothers, Jesse Samaniego and Fernando Samaniego and a sister, Mary Gutierrez. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. J.D. Howell will officiate with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Chapel from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
