Frances “Fran” Lou Stroik of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side. She was 85 years old. Frances Lou Talik was born on July 13, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Frank and Louise (London) Talik. She was a proud 1959 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, she worked for the Cottage Bakery. Fran met the love of her life, Melvin “Mel” Ben Stroik, through her brother. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on September 23, 1961, in Saginaw; he survives her. Fran later worked as a ward clerk for Saginaw Community Hospital. She held various positions throughout her life but spent most of her time at Saginaw Township Community Schools as a food service worker. As the head cook, Fran was lovingly given the nickname of “The Fry Lady” by the Swan Valley students. The role she treasured and cherished the most was being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Being with family always made her heart feel full of joy and love. Fran was a longtime and faithful member of the Community of Christ Church on Center Rd. She enjoyed spending time canning vegetables and baking the best desserts for her family and friends. When she wasn’t reading, Fran also enjoyed knitting, quilting, crocheting, working on crossword puzzles, and bowling. Though she could be strong-willed and determined, she will forever be remembered for being kind, loving, and dependable, always being present for those she loved.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Melvin “Mel” B. Stroik of Saginaw; three children: Melvin “Mel” B. Stroik Jr. of Saginaw; Scott A. Stroik of Saginaw; Penny (Tom) Mitchell of Saginaw; six grandchildren: Kollen Stroik, Lucas Stroik, Briana Montlouis, Scott A. Stroik II, Zoë Mitchell, and Zachary Mitchell; two great-grandchildren: Amelia Montlouis and Aristotle Montlouis; a brother, Frank Talik of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by three children: Dawn, Tammy, and Michelle Stroik; parents, Frank and Louise Talik; two sisters: Esther Anderson and Patricia Gebhard; a brother, Terry Talik; a sister-in-law, Nila Talik; and a brother-in-law, Walter Stroik.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Covenant at Home Hospice and Mike Cousins for all the love, care, and support they provided to Fran and the family.
A funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, Michigan 48603.
