Floyd David Tilden, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and proud veteran, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the age of 76.

Floyd was born on June 23, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Floyd and Nellie (Jerome) Tilden. After graduating from Saginaw High School, he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, an accomplishment he held close to his heart throughout his life.

Floyd met the love of his life, Karen Patelski, and the two were married, and for 53 years built a life centered on love, family, and friendship. Floyd dedicated many years of service to General Motors. He was also a proud member of UAW Local 699, valuing the friendships and camaraderie he found through his work and union membership.

Known affectionately by family and friends as "Chum," Floyd never met a stranger. His ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like an old friend was one of his most remarkable gifts. Whether sharing a story, telling a joke, or simply chatting about life, Chum had a way of bringing people together. His stories, laughter, and endless conversations will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Floyd had a passion for life and embraced every opportunity to enjoy it. He loved golfing, camping, hunting, baking, and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed both playing and watching baseball and football and was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. A true lover of music, Floyd especially enjoyed attending concerts, where family and friends could always count on seeing him break out his signature dance move, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around him.

More than any hobby or accomplishment, Floyd treasured the time he spent with family and friends. His kindness, outgoing nature, sense of humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Though he will be deeply missed, Floyd's legacy lives on in the countless friendships he made, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Alongside his devoted wife, Karen, he will lovingly be remembered by his children, Dan Tilden, Tara (Jeremy) Olivarez, and Angie (Kerry) Brown; sister, Ellen Teall; his grandchildren, Brent (Jessica) Buchinger, Jeremy Olivarez, and Jaidan Olivarez; great-grandson, Gavin Buchinger; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousin, friends, and other extended family members who will hold his memory dear.

Alongside his parents, he is preceded in passing by his sister and her husband, Rosalie and Hollis Kirkum, sister Cora and her husband Leory McCormick; his brothers, Harold and Gene Tilden; and his brother-in-law, Bob Teall.

Funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 14, 2026 at St. Francis de Sales Church, 3945 Williamson Rd, Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Fr. Anil will officiate, assisted by Deacon Gary. Friends are welcome to visit with the family beginning at 10:00 am until the time of mass. Military honors will follow the service held under the auspices of American Legion Post 22.
