Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the age of 100 years.
Florence was born on October 1, 1924, daughter of the late Jack and Rose (Schultz) Blacker, in Manistee, Michigan. She married Raymond Novak on November 15, 1946 and moved to Saginaw shortly after. Florence had been a longtime member of St. Christopher Catholic Church until her health began to decline. She enjoyed being outdoors flower gardening or going on walks with her grandchildren and her dog, Boots. In her younger years she worked as a seamstress, then deciding to be a devoted mother to her children. Florence enjoyed going on Sunday shopping trips with her daughter Sandy for many years. She enjoyed photography and attended the Zehnder's of Frankenmuth Snowfest, taking pictures of the ice sculptures and the beautiful snow. She had nearly 20 photo albums of the photography she took over the years. She also enjoyed collecting old antique steel cars. She had a loving heart and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to Elvis and going on casino trips.
Florence will be missed by her sons, Ray (Connie) Novak and Kevin (Patricia) Novak; daughters, Sandy Novak and Kimberlee (Rene) Novak; grandchildren, Keith Novak, Jennifer (Tyler) Brown, Scott (Kelly) Novak, Kris Galasterer and Laura (Chris) Durkee; six great grandchildren and many other relatives. Besides her husband, Ray and her parents, she was predeceased by six sisters, Fran, Gertrude, Germaine, Eleanor, Ruth and Lucille.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Covenant at Home Hospice Nurses, Ashley, Kayla and Maria for the exceptional care and compassion for Florence, and to Patricia Novak for all her love and support. They are also appreciative of Lisa Giltrop Jannie for always taking the time to care for their mother with love and compassion.
