Ernesto “Ernie” P. Ramos of Saginaw, Michigan
It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Ernesto P. Ramos, who left us just a few minutes into October 24, 2024, as the new day began. He was 87 years old. Ernesto Ramos was born on October 13, 1937, in Tucson, Arizona, to the late Ignacio and Guadalupe (Pacheco) Ramos. He attended Tucson High School and later attended and graduated from Delphi Buena Vista High School. He met the love of his life, Felicitas Espinoza, in California. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on May 21, 1977; she survives him. Hard working his entire life, as a young boy he picked cotton. As an adult, Ernie began his working career at South Gate Assembly in California. Upon the closing of the plant, he then moved to Moore, Oklahoma, working for General Motors in Midwest City. Ernie later relocated with the family to Saginaw, Michigan, working for Delphi / General Motor rising to the rank of supervisor, retiring on September 30, 1999, after many years of loyal and dedicated service. The role of his lifetime, one he loved above his career, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A family man at heart, Ernie loved family gatherings and preparing food, whether it was growing it in his garden, shopping, or cooking, whenever his family was around his heart was full. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A wrestling fanatic, Ernie enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and attending wrestling events. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and was proud to see 40 of the 50 of the U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico. His little piece of heaven was spending time on the ocean or lake, which brought him so much peace and tranquility throughout his life. A great eye for detail, Ernie was a fantastic photographer and mastered his craft on his 35 mm camera. He loved watching movies, especially WWI and WWII films, however, he didn’t discriminate as he’d watch a good Romcom or anything else accompanied with some fresh buttered popcorn and family. Ernie will forever be remembered as a strong-willed man, who wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, standing firmly by his beliefs. He valued discipline and held others to a high standard. He forever leaves a legacy with his family for his hard work ethic, for his wonderful sense of humor, for his love for family – especially his grandchildren, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Felicitas Ramos of Saginaw; six children: Carlos (Barbie) Ramos of CA; George (Ahn) Ramos of CA; Analisa (Paul) Carion of CA; Michael (Darcy) Ramos of OH; Naomi Ramos and her partner, Chris Hammis of MI; Edward (Claudia) Martinez-Ramos of NV; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances (Luis) Martinez of AZ. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Guadalupe Ramos; siblings: Carmen Miranda; Jose Miranda; Raul P. Ramos; Alicia DeJarano; Oscar P. Ramos; Eugenio P. Ramos; Delia Zuniga.
