Our loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Age 90 years.
Ernest was born on June 14, 1935, son of the late Ernest and Alma (Wedding) Dammann, in Zilwaukee and lived throughout the Great Lakes Bay area. Ernest married the love of his life, Beverly Bohn on May 12, 1956. She predeceased him on June 25, 2021. He was a proud patriot and served in the United States Army National Guard. Ernest retired from General Motors as a Human Resource Supervisor with many dedicated years of service. With that experience he then started a business, PTI, which provided professional temporary staff to the auto industry. Ernest was a man of strong faith and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. He was a car enthusiast and avid boater. Ernest loved sailing the Great Lakes and traveling. Ernest will be remembered for being a loving, understanding and supportive father and grandfather.
Ernest leaves to cherish memories of him with his son, David (Lisa) Dammann of Tennessee; daughter, Cathy (David) Short of Saginaw; grandchildren, Dr. Kyle (Samantha) Dammann of Oklahoma, Nichole (Fred) Dammann Reilly, DVM of Tennessee, Josh Dupis of Saginaw and Ashley Dupis of Indiana; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Tara (Joe) Bohn Nunamaker; many nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Dana Dammann, son, Kurt Dammann, sister, Nona Dammann Weir and brother, Robert Dammann.
Honoring Ernest wishes cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. John’s Lutheran Church, Frankenmuth or Americans Home, Health and Hospice Care.
