Weiss, Emil H. Saginaw, MI Much loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015, in the Palliative Care Unit of Aleda Lutz Veteran's Hospital at the age of 85 years. Emil was born May 7, 1929; the son of Herbert C. and Louisa (Bickel) Weiss. He grew up in Frankenmuth, attended St. Lorenz church and school, as well as Frankenmuth public school. Emil served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He married Marylou Wilson in 1956; she predeceased him in September 1999. He was self-employed as a milk distributor for McDonald Dairy for 36 years. Emil was active as a Stephen Minister for 9 years, served as a volunteer at the Veteran's Hospital and for the Visiting Nurses Association, and was a member of the American Legion Post #150 for 60 years. In August 2001, he married Grottsia "Gee Gee" Schuett. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Besides his wife he is survived by his son Lewis (Rene) Weiss; grandsons, Ryan (Pamela) and Kyle Weiss; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Aaron; sister, Edna Galsterer; brothers, Raymond E. and Clarence Weiss; step-sons, Bryan and Bruce Schuett. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Arnold and Reuben Weiss. The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. Bartnik and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Veteran's Hospital for the excellent care which was given to Emil. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church, 4432 Mackinaw Rd. Pastor Michael Hahn will officiate with interment at a later date at St. Lorenz Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
