Elsie Clara Sherman

Elsie Clara Sherman of Hemlock, Michigan,

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Pine Haven Assisted Living. Elsie Clara Tessin was born on September 20, 1924, in Ingersoll Township, to late Richard and Erna (Bork) Tessin. She married the love of her life, Adam Carl Sherman, May 29, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hemlock; he survives her. She and her husband owned and operated their own farm in Hemlock for over 70 years. The role of her lifetime was to be a loving and caring, wife and stay-at-home mother. She was a longtime former member of Zion Lutheran Church, and a current member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Elsie believed in helping and serving others and did so selflessly by volunteering her time at the Saginaw County Health Department – Hemlock location, Bethesda Thrift Shop, and was as a leader with the local 4H. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and word search puzzles. Elsie’s little piece of heaven was tending to her flower and vegetable garden. She will forever be remembered for her innate ability to communicate and talk with all people, her unwavering faith, and for living a truly amazing life filled with many beautiful memories.

Surviving are her husband of 74 years, Adam C. Sherman; a son, Dale (Jeri) Sherman; a daughter, Mary (Steven) Graves; six grandchildren: Sheila (Andy) Liszka; Megan (Eric) Scott; Kyle (Jenny) Sherman; Brent (Jessica Warren-Klein) Graves; Kraig (Dana) Sherman; Kurt (Kelsey) Sherman; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter (Shirley) Tessin. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Martin (Agnes) Tessin; a sister-in-law, Helen Tessin.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Pine Haven Assisted Living and Covenant VNA Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Elsie and the family.
