Gries, Elmer G. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at his home. Age 87 years. The son of the late William and Emma (Zarske) Gries was born February 1, 1926 in Alpena, Michigan. He married Allene A. Gerke, May 14, 1949. She passed away January 12, 2013 after 63 years of marriage. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and enjoyed golfing, and spending time with his family. He was employed by General Motors Malleable Iron Plant, retiring in 1981. Surviving are his children; Larry (Julie) Gries, Judy Gries, Kevin Gries, Jean (Jeff) Venturelli, grandchildren; Scott (Jennifer) Gries, Justin Gries, Jaime (Russ) Lietzke, Kelly Mureiko, Kristin Mureiko, Andrew Gries, Daniel Venturelli, Marisa Venturelli, great grandchildren; Brandon and Ryan Gries, Mikayla, Carley, Sydney Lietzke, and Bryant Venturelli, sisters, Helen (Jack) Page, Edna (Hugh) Rottier, brother; Ken (Linda) Gries, a brother-in-law, Paul (Lorraine) Gerke, a sister-in-law, Bertha Gerke, many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave. Rev. Paul Hinz will officiate with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Sunday from 2:00-4:00p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
