Elizabeth (Notburga) Sennowitz

Elizabeth Sennowitz of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022, at New Hope Assisted Living. She was 95 years old. Elizabeth (Notburga) Tschöpe was born on March 5, 1927, in Rückers Kreisstadt Glatz Niederschlesien, Germany, to the late Josef and Theresia (Kleiner) Tschöpe. She proudly attended night school and was a graduate of Kimball High School in Royal Oak. Elizabeth and her husband immigrated from Germany into Canada, and then to the United States where she made Royal Oak, Michigan, her home. She worked as a seamstress using her skills and talents to make alterations and tailoring with all types of clothing. Elizabeth married Kurt Helmut Sennowitz on December 26, 1952; he preceded her in death on August 19, 1998. Upon marriage and beginning their family, Elizabeth stopped working in Detroit and Kurt bought her all the machines she needed to work from home. It was here she took on the role of her lifetime, to be a wonderful, loving, and caring mother and wife. She was a longtime and faithful member of Family Baptist Church. Elizabeth enjoyed playing cards, reading, and traveling yearly to Germany and throughout the United States. She also enjoyed being outdoors by taking long walks, berry picking, and swimming. Elizabeth was an excellent baker and knew the secret ingredient, love, to making everything she created taste delicious. Above all, she treasured and cherished the time she spent with her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Irene (David) Sollner of Hemlock; son, Dr. Karl Sennowitz of Athlens, GA; daughter-in-law, Melissa Sennowitz of Athens, GA; six grandchildren: Ellice (Hudson) Clark of Plymouth; Kurt Sollner of Dearborn Heights; Emma Sollner of Ann Arbor; Jordan Sennowitz of Athens, GA; Anna Sennowitz of Athens, GA; Lexi Sennowitz of Athens, GA; three sisters: Liesbeth Grahl of Erfurt, Germany; Bärbel Tichelkamp of Krefeld, Germany; Christl Albrecht of Dresden, Germany; two brothers, Walter (Monika) Tschöpe of Dresden, Germany; Gerhard (Doris) Tschöpe of Wildeshausen, Germany.
