Obituary

Elizabeth (Betty) Ann (Dye) Allen was born on October 23, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan to Cecil and Dorothy (Gray) Dye. Betty entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 9, 2026. Betty was blessed with a lifetime of faith, love, and laughter. We will all miss her love and prayers as she was an incredible prayer warrior. The family is grieving her loss but are rejoicing her reunion with her precious Jesus.

Betty was married to the love of her life, Nelson Allen, for 54 years and had four children. Karen (Bob) Damaske, Sharon (Scott) Berkobien, Laurie (Scott) Sherman, and Greg (Julieann) Allen. Betty has eight grandchildren, Jason (Dani) Damaske, Robyn (Levi) Lenz, Justin (Julie) Berkobien, Joey (Ali) Berkobien, Jeremy (Stephanie) Sherman, Kristin (Casey) Mier, Dylan (Natalie) Allen, and Eric (Rayann) Allen; and 19 great grandchildren: Mason and Asher Damaske; Michael (Sarah), Daniel, Matthew, and Krystiana Lenz; Audrey, Jimmy, and Hayley Berkobien; Scarlet, Hudson, Judah, Knox, and Mae Berkobien; Olivia, Madelyn, and Jackson Sherman; Eleanor and Sawyer Mier. Betty is survived by her beloved sister, Kay Squires, brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Pat Dye. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews. Betty was welcomed to her heavenly home by her husband Nelson, her Mom and Dad, Cecil and Dorothy Dye, her brother-in-law Ray Squires, sister-in-law Ruth Schmidt, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Betty Waggoner, nephew Jim Waggoner, and great-grandchild Elizabeth Lenz.

Betty loved her Lord and Savior, and she loved her family. She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Bible Church. Missions and reaching the world for Christ was very much on Betty’s heart and in her prayers. Her desire was for people everywhere to hear about Christ, to know His name, and to experience His love in a way that speaks directly to their hearts. She longed for everyone to have God’s Word in their own language so they could truly understand it and know Jesus personally. “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.” Revelation 7:9

Betty and Nelson loved to travel, visiting loved ones in multiple countries. They fulfilled their dreams of going to the Holy Land. Betty also had a lifelong dream to return to Bolivia, South America where she grew up, fulfilling that dream with her brother Paul.

Private burial has taken place at Oakwood Cemetery. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Global Serve International.
