Edward “Randy” Randall Merry of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Samaritas Senior Living of Saginaw. He was 73 years old. Edward Randall Merry was born on September 16, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Edward and Gladys (Becker) Merry. He was a proud 1967 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. As a young boy he enjoyed playing baseball, swimming, and skiing. He met the love of his life, Linda Sue Tolles, while attending a dance at Daniel’s Den in Saginaw. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on December 13, 1969; she survives him. Randy was employed as a telephone repairman at Michigan Bell/AT&T; retiring in 2001, after 31 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role of his lifetime was to be a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Randy was of the Methodist Faith his entire life. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and classic cars. Randy treasured and cherished his grandchildren and made it a point to attend and cheer for all their school and sporting activities. He found much joy in being outdoors and wintering with the love of his life, Linda, in Florida. He loved working in his yard as well as collecting rocks. Randy will forever be remembered for his strong will and hard work ethic, the pride and love he had for family and friends, his quirky sense of humor and unique collectables, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many wonderful stories and beautiful memories.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Linda S. Merry of Saginaw; a son, Jason (Tracy) Merry of Midland, a daughter, Lori (Gary) Fennelly of Saginaw; four grandsons: Jacob Merry of Grand Rapids; Ryan Merry of Irving, Texas; Brody Fennelly of Saginaw; Owen Fennelly of Saginaw; a sister, Barbara Ann Busch of Florida; a brother, Thomas (Susan) Merry of South Bend, IN. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Edward Allen Merry.
