Dorotha Ann Monaghan

 Dorotha Ann Monaghan passed away on January 18, 2024, in Saginaw, Michigan. She was born on February 6, 1923, in Chelsea, Michigan to Russell A. Pointer and Hazel M. (Batchelor) Pointer. Dorotha was known for her hard work and dedication throughout her life.

Dorotha served with honor in the United States Navy. Her military service exemplified her commitment to serving others and to her country. She demonstrated bravery and dedication during her time in the Navy.

Dorotha had a deep passion for various hobbies and interests. She particularly enjoyed traveling out west and to Florida alongside her beloved husband. Together, they explored new places and created cherished memories. Dorotha also found solace in spending time outdoors on her porch swing, appreciating the beauty of nature and the serenity it provided. Her love for wildlife manifested through countless hours spent observing them.

Dorotha's caring nature extended into the community as well. She selflessly volunteered at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital (formerly St. Mary’s Ambulatory) for many years. Through her volunteer work, Dorotha touched countless lives with kindness and compassion.

Amongst Dorotha's proudest accomplishments was being a member of the American Legion Post 22. She dedicated herself to supporting veterans and their families.

Dorotha's memory will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughter Patricia "Pat" Monaghan; daughter-in-law Carol Monaghan; granddaughter Stacy (Paul) Hebl, and grandsons Michael (Sohara) Monaghan and James Monaghan; great-grandchildren Samuel Monaghan, Noah Monaghan, Levi Monaghan, Owen Hebl, Leah Hebl, and Drake Hebl.

She joins her beloved husband James Joseph Monaghan in eternal rest. Dorotha was also preceded in death by her son Larry Monaghan; father Russell A. Pointer and mother Hazel M. (Batchelor) Pointer; and sister Barbara Northrup.

She will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the loving and caring staff of HealthSource and A&D Hospice.

A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the chapel at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 950 N Center Rd, Saginaw, MI 48638, with Rev. Patrick Lagan officiating the service. Friends may visit with the family in the cemetery chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
