Doris graduated from Merrill High School in the class 1951. After high school, she met Philip Underwood and the two would get married on March 11, 1952. Doris went on to own and operate Phil's Freezer in Hemlock alongside her first husband for nine wonderful years. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1991. She was a dedicated member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hemlock, where she found both spiritual fulfillment and a beloved community.
Doris was an enthusiastic line dancer and found great delight in being a competitive player of card and board games. Her zest for life was evident in everything she did. Doris married John F. Doris was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Philip; second husband, John; son, David; and six brothers: Lowell Schultz, Carl Schultz, Martin Schultz, Edwin Schultz, Ken Kleppert, and Larry Kleppert.
