Donna Jean Reed of Bridgeport, Michigan

Beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, on Thursday, May 25, 2023. She was 80 years old. Donna Jean Aldrich was born on January 23, 1943, in Bridgeport, Michigan, to the late Clinton D. and Marian G. (Lambert) Aldrich. She was a proud 1961 graduate of Frankenmuth High School. While in school, Donna met the love of her life, Richard Robert Reed. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 19, 1961, at Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport; he preceded her in death on August 24, 2000. Donna then began a 35-year long career as a bus driver with Bridgeport Spaulding Schools, retiring on May 31, 2005. The role of her lifetime was to be a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bridgeport and the lifetime member of the Bridgeport Gun Club where she served on their board as secretary from 2001 to 2021. Donna enjoyed sewing, painting wood crafts, and playing cards. Above all, she treasured and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. Though she could be strong-willed, she will forever be remembered for having a heart of gold, for her kindness to anyone in need, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are three children: Robin Reed of Bridgeport; Brian (Kathy) Reed of Round Hill VA; Richard (Heather) Reed of Burt; three grandchildren: Ashley Reed, Brianna Reed, and Samantha Reed; and a brother-in-law, Richard Lyle of Bridgeport. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Marian Aldrich; three sisters: Judith (Thomas) Kelly, Carol Lyle, and Patricia Aldrich.

A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. Rev William Hessler will officiate. Honoring Donna's wishes, cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
