Donna Jean Gulliver (Grams)

Our loving mother, aunt, and friend passed away at her home in Saginaw with her family by her side on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age of 93. Donna was born in Shields, Michigan, on August 12th, 1930, to the late Leonard & Leola (Jean) Grams and was a 1949 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. It was in high school that Donna met her sweetheart, Shirle Gulliver. The couple would marry on September 8th, 1951, and spend over 72 years together in marriage together. He survives her. While Shirle was in the service, Donna worked as a secretary for the Elmer Schemn Insurance Agency, leaving employment there when Shirle returned from the military in order to raise the loving family who grew up around them. She reentered the work force when her family had grown, retiring as a county secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance, making many friends and cherished connections along the way. In her free time, Donna was an adventurous woman who loved spending time with her friends and family. She travelled with them extensively across the United States and Europe and made sure to teach her daughters how to play her favorite card games, like euchre and 500. Donna’s apple pie is remembered fondly, as is her love of reading anything nonfiction, especially histories and biographies. Donna is remembered as being a kind, giving and courageous woman who was ever resourceful. She was a planner and organizer who always made sure her family was taken care of, and whose beautiful sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Donna is survived by her husband of over 72 years, Shirle Gulliver, and daughters Sandy (Doug) Peltier and Holly Gulliver. Also surviving her are many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her brother Leonard J. Grams.

In accordance with Donna’s wishes, private entombment is to take place, with a committal service presided over by Pastor Paul Biber. Those wanting to make a show of their sympathy may wish to consider a memorial contribution to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Rd, Saginaw, or Peace Lutheran Church, 3161 Lawndale Rd, Saginaw.
