Obituary

Donald "Don" Mathew Yeager of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 93 years old. Donald Mathew Yeager was born on November 27, 1927, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Joseph and Bessie (Munson) Yeager. He was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Don honorably served his country by serving in the United States Army during WWII. While stationed in Trieste, Italy, he met the love of his life, Giorgina Marie Malini, and they were united in marriage on September 5, 1954; she survives him. Upon their return, he began working as a self employed mason where he installed basement blocks. Don then started State Asphalt, and shortly after became a licensed realtor and created his own company, Yeager Realty. While his son Mark was a junior in high school, Don encouraged him to begin seal coating throughout the community. After two years of successful business Mark began Yeager Asphalt and Don proudly began working side by side with his son. Don was a faithful and longtime member of Saginaw Wesleyan Church, and as a young man volunteered as a Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Saginaw Board of Realtors. Don was an avid fisher man, finding peace and tranquility being out on the water. He also enjoyed taking trips up state snowmobiling, something he did well into his 80's. Don was a friend to all and an excellent communicator and very understanding. He had the innate ability to connect with all people. Above all, Don loved and cherished his children and grandchildren, cheering Donny and MJ on during their basketball games. He will forever be remembered for his hard work ethic, his selflessness to all he loved, for his genuine kindness for humanity, and his wonderful sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 67 years, Giorgina Marie Yeager of Saginaw; two sons: Mark (Shannon) Yeager of Saginaw; Bruce Yeager of Saginaw; four grandchildren: Markesa (Matt) Kilmartin, Christina (Sean) O'Grady; Donny Yeager, MJ Yeager; great-grandchildren: Myrkia Maguire, Atlas O'Grady, Bee O'Grady, Giorgina "Giorgie" Kilmarin; two brothers: Calvin (Sharon) Yeager, Daniel (Judy) Yeager, sister, Rosella Keith. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bruce; two sisters: Zenith and Joanne; a sister-in-law, Eva; two brothers-in-law, Dale Gross and Chuck Keith.
