Donald
Garner
May 15, 1947 — Aug 7, 2026
Saginaw, MI
Passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026.
Don was born on May 16, 1947, in Saginaw to the late Franklin and Mary (Skuczas) Garner. On February 3, 2017, he married Deborah Kolhagen; she survives him. Throughout his life, Don was an avid hunter, fisherman and drag racer. However, after retirement, he placed more focus on bowling and improving his golf game. He reached the pinnacle of his golf career when he shot his first hole-in-one in April 2025. His response to the accomplishment was “It only took 63 years!” In addition, he also took pride in bowling a perfect game, on more than one occasion. Don enjoyed watching both college and professional sports; he loved Tiger baseball. Yet, nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren play their respective sports. He was so proud of them and all of their accomplishments. Don loved escaping Michigan’s winters by going to Florida. Don cherished time spent with his family and friends, especially time spent with his grandchildren and his dog Molly.
Surviving besides his wife, Deborah, are his children: Stacey (Jim) Chacon, Jeff (Jennie) Garner, step-children: Dana (Chad) Fowler, Stephanie Cody, grandchildren: Jack and Jonah Chacon, Liam and Reece Garner, five step-grandchildren: Sydney and Abby Fowler, Madison Jaurez, Xzavier and Skylar Cody, his sister Marysue (Gary) Schnell, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and his faithful companion, Molly. Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his siblings: Bill Garner, Jim Garner, and Sally Whitney.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial committal with military honors will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors. Please share your words of condolence with the family at www.casefuneralhome.com
