Donald "Don" Edward Elliott

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away at age 93 with his wife by his side on 9/30/2022. Don was born 8/5/1929 in Gary, Indiana and adopted by Claude and Evelyn Elliott in 1930. He graduated from Saginaw High in 1947 where hewas on the Varsity football and track teams. He married the love of his life, Joan Schempp, on 9/17/1949. 

Don worked on the C&O Railroad as a foreman, retiring in 1990 after 42 years. Don was a 32nd degree Mason with the Saginaw Valley Lodge #154. He was a talented artist and skilled wood craftsman and enjoyed all the outdoors had to offer. 

Don, along with his brother-in-law Robert Brady, was influential in the establishment of Little League baseball in Saginaw Township in 1964. Don was an avid readerand had genuine enthusiasm for learning about military and railroad history. He also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and U of M football. He will be remembered for his charisma, charm, and wonderful sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Joan Elliott; a son and a daughter: Timothy (Karen) Elliott of TX; Laura Elliott of Saginaw; three grandchildren: Scott (Debbie) Jackson of Saginaw; Britt (Bill) Groters of TX; Carey (Brandon) Moore of Canton; four great-grandchildren: Madeline, Tatum, Neya, and Thomas.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Thomas Elliott.

Viewing will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 with a funeral service and Masonic ceremony at 12:00 pm at W.L. Case & Co Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd.  The Rev.
