Donald Albert Burdo

Peacefully passed away at is home with his family by his side, October 14, 2023 after a long battle with multiple health issues. Don was born on June 12, 1948, to the late Albert and Beulah (Graham) Burdo, and was a 1966 graduate of Hemlock High School. It was the summer after high school where he met his soon to be wife, Rosemary Vinardi. Don and Rosemary were married on October 13, 1967 and spend 56 years in marriage. She survives him. He retired from Hemlock Semi-Conductor after 35 years. Don showed his love for sports and the community by volunteering for many years throughout his life. He umped baseball, ran the scoreboard for Hemlock High School basketball games for many years, and loved to coach basketball and golf. His fondest memories were coaching his daughter and granddaughter’s basketball teams at St Peter Lutheran School, and coaching golf at Valley Lutheran High School where he was able to take a player to the state finals. Don’s true passion was for golf, which he instilled in his grandson starting at four years old. His true pride and joy were his grandchildren and never missed a recital, sporting event, or academic achievement. In retirement he played golf daily and enjoyed spending time with the late Dan Rocha. Along with Harold Schroeder and many friends that he met up with daily. Don always looked forward to the many yearly hunting and bird camps with his brothers and nephews. Most important to him was his faith. He was a lifetime active member at St. Peter Lutheran Church and School, where he sang in the choir, held multiple offices, and committees throughout his lifetime. Don is remembered for his talkative personality, his humor, witty remarks, leadership in the church and school, his faith, and his endless love for his family.

Don had many health professionals that went above and beyond to assist him in his battle of 30+ years with Crohn’s Disease.  We would like to especially thank Dr. Robert McNier, (Gastroenterology) Dr. Mayar Jundi (Covenant Cardiology) and Vicki Ott, Nurse Practitioner (Covenant Digestive Center).

Don is survived by his two daughters and their spouses Patricia (Michael) Boynton, Krista (Andrew) Hagarty; grandchildren Anthony Andrew Hagarty and Maria Rose Hagarty; step-grandchildren Mark (Leah) Boynton, Amanda (Tony) Rinna and step great grandchild, Juniper Rinna. Sister-in-laws Dorothy Burdo, and Joyce Burdo. Numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.

Don was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Hall, eldest brother Robert Burdo, twin brothers Ray and Roy Burdo, mother-in-law, Nelda Vinardi, brother-in-law Kenneth Hall and sister-in-law Barb Burdo.
