It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Don Brotemarkle, who left us on February 12, 2026, in Zephyrhills, Florida. Born on August 18, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, to James and Ruby Brotemarkle (Cooper), Don lived a life filled with warmth, adventure, and an extraordinary ability to make others feel seen and valued. He was a proud graduate of Grand Blanc High School and then went on to attend Baker College for a time. On September 4, 2004, he married his forever love, Jean Rohde, and together they built a family rooted deeply in love.
Don’s life was defined by his caring spirit, quick wit, and a craftiness that made him both memorable and endearing. He was a devoted father whose love for his children was unwavering, and his enthusiasm for experiencing life to the fullest inspired everyone around him. His humor, adventurous nature, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Don found joy in the outdoors. Later in life, he cherished traveling to Florida with Jean, embracing the sunshine and new adventures. In recent years, he discovered a passion for quilting and longarm quilting, joining a class and sharing this creative journey alongside his wife.
Don’s memory will be lovingly held by those he leaves behind: his wife of 22 years, Jean; his children, Stacey (Ronnie), April, Philip (Kimberly), and Randy; his brothers, Jim (Linda) and Richard; six grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E Tuscola St, Frankenmuth, MI 48734, on May 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation in honor of Don to The American Heart Association.
Don leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a spirited approach to life. Though he is no longer with us in person, his presence will continue to live on in the hearts of all he touched. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
