Diane K. Ederer of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. She was 84 years old. Diane K. McDowell was born on January 1, 1941, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Walter and Elinor (Buehler) McDowell. She was a proud 1958 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Diane attended Central Michigan University, was a member of Delta Zeta, and graduated in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She met the love of her life, Richard J. Ederer, while in high school. They began dating, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 18, 1962. Diane worked at Bridgeport Elementary School for two years. After her daughters were in junior high school, she resumed working for a local podiatrist. She served her community with the Junior League, P.E.O. Chapter EQ, and was a board member & president for the volunteers at the Children’s Zoo at Celebration Square. Diane was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where she volunteered her time and talents with the choir and various other groups. She was active with her AHHS alumni class and assisted in planning several of their class reunions. Diane was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother.
Surviving are husband of 63 years, Richard J. Ederer of Saginaw; two daughters: Susan Ederer and her husband, Wayne Jones, of Ann Arbor; Elizabeth and Timothy Bills of Fenton; two grandchildren: Abigail and Tre Flores of Bloomfield Hills; Nicholas Bills of Troy. Also surviving are countless extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elinor McDowell.
Honoring Diane’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 1pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, 121 S. Harrison St., Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on November 2 from 12:15pm until the time of the service. Following the service, relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Horizon’s Banquet Center, 6200 State St., Saginaw, for a light meal.
