Dean MacConnel passed away Feb. 12, 2023 – age 90 years. He was born July 27th, 1932, to George R MacConnel and Betty (Killinger) MacConnel in Saginaw, MI. Dean and Judith (Day) MacConnel were married July 16, 1959, at the First Congregational Church. Dean was a 1950 graduate of Saginaw High School. He enjoyed working as a Purchasing Agent at Delta College in the beginning years, 1960 to 1965. He was the Building Manager for Second National Bank (now Huntington Bank) and for many years Dean was with Mosler Safe Co. Dean served with the 14th Infantry Regiment in Korea. As a loyal University of Michigan football fan, several times he mowed a block M on his front yard, much to the amusement of his children. Dean enjoyed golf, playing with various groups over the years, especially playing into his 80s at the Sawmill with longtime friend John Bethune.

Dean is survived by his wife Judy; children Carolyn Strickland, Winston Salem, NC, William MacConnel, Ann Arbor, MI., Nancy MacConnel, Saginaw, MI, and Anne MacConnel (Ian Hickey), Minneapolis, MN.; grandchildren Claire Strickland, Emma Strickland, Henry MacConnel, Jack MacConnel, and Leo Hickey.

He was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Jay, John, and Dale MacConnel; and sisters Betty MacConnel, and Kay Piffer.

A private celebration of Dean’s life will take place. The family would like to thank Great Lakes Rehab staff for their excellent and compassionate care of Dean.
