David R. Wright of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. He was 70 years old. David R. Wright was born on June 6, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Harry Eugene and Norma Marie (Worrall) Wright. He attended Saginaw High School and then proudly enlisted in the United States Army serving from September 18, 1972, until his honorable discharge on July 10, 1975. While working at Vinyl Sash, he met the love of his life, Deborah Kay Sieggreen. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on September 19, 1981, she survives him. A carpenter by trade, David owned and operated his own business, Wright’s Home Improvements, for many years, retiring in 1998. The role he treasured and cherished the most was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his grandchildren beyond words; they truly made his heart feel happy and full. David enjoyed spending time gardening, as well as building bird houses. He also enjoyed tinkering in the garage and always found and created projects to work on. David was an excellent cook and baker and loved creating his own dishes and desserts. He was a proud and longtime member of American Legion Post 229 in Blumfield Township serving as the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Legion, as well as playing bugle for countless military funeral honors with the honor guard. David was a kind, selfless, and giving man, often the first person contacted when someone was in need. He will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his ability to stay strong and fight, and for truly living a wonderful life with his family creating many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Deborah K. Wright of Saginaw; two daughters: Keely (Andy) Michalak of St. Charles; Chelsea Wright and her fiancé, Richard Cole of Saginaw Township; 1o grandchildren: Hunter Zoellner, Ryder Zoellner, Sunnie Zoellner, Lily Michalak, Brooklynne Cole, Richard Cole Jr., Harmony Cole, Taylen Wright, Thomas Cole, and Tucker Cole; one great-granddaughter expected in November; two brothers and one sister: Susan Stimpson of Saginaw; Garry Wright of Grand Rapids; Harry Wright and his significant other, Julie Campbell of Traverse City. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Norma Wright; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Billy and Georgia Sieggreen; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Wright; four brothers-in-law, Mike Stimpson, Dale Sieggreen, Wayne Morris, and Terry Henning; three sisters-in-law, Christina Wright, Laura Wright, and Gale Morris.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI 48603. American Legion Chaplain Teri Miles will officiate with Military Honors to follow under the Auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post 229. Honoring David’s wishes, cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Legion Post 229.
