David "Dave" Earl Shattuck

David “Dave” Earl Shattuck of Hale, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was 80 years old. David Earl Shattuck was born on August 3, 1943, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Earl and Mina (Hartman) Shattuck. He was a proud 1961 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve, where he served 25 years with the 5089th unit, until his honorable discharge as Master Sergeant. He met the love of his life, Jeanie Lewis, while dancing at the Daniel’s Den, in Saginaw. It only took one dance together before they knew they were soulmates. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 2, 1965, she survives him. Dave was employed with General Motors for 34 years; retiring at 55 years old. The role of his lifetime, and one he treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a faithful member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Hale as well as a 4th degree with the Knights of Columbus. Dave was also a member of the Hale Eagles #4217 and the Hale Area Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. His little piece of heaven was the Double D and Sons (The Buck Stop), where he enjoyed his favorite outdoor activities: hunting, snowmobiling, and taking walks. Dave took great pride in his home and yard, and meticulously kept everything perfect. He will forever be remembered as a loyal and kindhearted family man, for his dependable and fun-loving spirit, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jeanie Shattuck; three sons: Dan (Lori) Shattuck; Scott (Patsy) Shattuck, Chris (Amy) Shattuck; six grandchildren: Chase(Arielle), Nicole, Joseph (Sarah), Jared, Austin, and Jackson; two sisters-in-law: Kathy (Keith) Shattuck and Libby (John) Shattuck. Also surviving are his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Mina Shattuck; and two brothers: John Shattuck and Keith Shattuck.
