Obituary

Dale William Emeott (Bill) of Saginaw, age 94, died unexpectedly on February 9, 2026 near his beloved family in Grand Blanc, Michigan, waking up pleasantly and surprisingly with the Lord. He was an infant of the Great Depression, born on February 17, 1931, to parents Francis and Inez (Champlin) Emeott in Saginaw, seventh of nine in a raucous and fun-loving family. A native and resident of Thomas Township (Shields) his entire life, with his demise he is last of an unforgettable clan where the coffee pot was always on.

After dropping out of high school in 1947, he went on to work for the old Saginaw Steering Gear, Eaton Manufacturing, and Ellis Trucking, attended by a trip to the Korean War, marriage, and two sons along the way. He became permanently enjoined to his young bride Edwina Katherine Suhan (Kay) on September 15, 1950 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Saginaw and was devoted to her until she predeceased him in 2012.

Upon retirement, he became a contractor and founded D & E Mobile Home Repair, later partnering with dear nephew Mark Dwenger to complete fair and honest projects throughout mid-Michigan. Later, most mornings included a story-telling session with assorted characters of the McDonalds coffee brigade in Shields where he defended his UM allegiance amid an MSU crowd.

His volunteer activities included Shields Mens Club, Cubmaster to baby-boomer boys of the 1960’s, a founding member and coach of the Shields Little League, and long-time usher at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He loved to drive……be it farm tractors, Army tanks, 18-wheelers, or highly-regarded John Deere lawn equipment. A favorite fall pastime was rooting for anything UM football with an eye to the weather as the ever-informed local forecaster.

Bill was a loving father who never missed a game, never missed a meeting, and never gave up on anybody or anything. He had a keen social consciousness, was approachable by all, and respected by many for his kindness and generosity. He loved his four grandsons, rejoiced in their successes, and grieved in their failures.

A special heart-felt thanks goes out to the unwavering neighbor attendants of his old age, Julie, Gail, Don, and Jill, along hard-working Laurie of Visiting Angels.

Surviving are his son and favorite daughter-in-law Danial and Irene (Litvinskas) Emeott. With his surviving family are grandsons Jason (Amisha) Emeott, Lucas Emeott, Brian (Claudine) Emeott, and Douglas Emeott along with great-grandchildren Jane Emeott, Edward Emeott, Vasara Emeott, and Neleis Emeott.

A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. Family and friends may visit the family from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609, where a Vigil Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Dale will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass on Monday at the church.
