Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles William Gedraitis, who passed peacefully on July 26, 2026. Charles was born on March 10, 1937, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Frank and Rose (Frasle) Gedraitis. He met and fell deeply for his best friend and love, Janet Marks, and they were united in marriage on February 11, 1961. He spent his life guided by kindness, humility, and a deep love for his family and friends.

Those who knew him best will remember him as a gentle and caring man whose generosity and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Charles found great joy in the outdoors and cherished time spent camping, fishing, and traveling. Whether exploring new places, casting a line into a quiet lake, or enjoying the simple pleasures of nature, he embraced life with appreciation and enthusiasm.

He was also a talented woodworker who took pride in creating beautiful and practical pieces with his hands. His craftsmanship reflected the patience, care, and attention to detail that characterized every aspect of his life. Above all, Charles was devoted to his family. He was known for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering generosity. Family members recall his caring nature, his readiness to lend a helping hand, his ability to bring a smile with his silly nature, and the warmth he brought to every gathering.

Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Eric (Cheryl) Gedraitis, Julie (Bill) Schumacher, and Karen (James) Clark; grandchildren, Kelsey Gedraitis, Andrea Kennelly, Patrick (Nathan Rose) Kennelly, Hillary (Nicholas) Brenner, and Alexander (Elizabeth) Clark; and his great-grandchildren, Stella, Patrick, Ashton, Remington, Noah, Delilah, and Melody; as well as many other extended family members. His legacy of compassion, helpfulness, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Alongside his parents, Charles was preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Janet; his sisters, Rose Keinitz and Lorraine Fodo; and his brother, Clarence Gedraitis.

Charles will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the many lives he touched through his kindness, generosity, and quiet strength.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Church, 3680 S. Washington Rd., Saginaw, MI. Rev. Fr. Alberto Vargas will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw, MI, as well as Thursday morning at the church from 10:00 am until the time of mass.
