Mr . Chae Charmeon Riley lovingly called “Chay-Lay”, a cherished member of the Lake Orion community, passed away suddenly on November 5, 2023, leaving behind a grieving family, many friends, and co-workers who valued him for his hard work and dedication. Chae was born on June 28, 1976, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Johnnie Franklin Jr. and Lynette C. Peoples. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1995 and attended Delta College and Macomb Community College, where he studied Sterile Processing Technology.
Chae met his soulmate, Christina Jane Juarez, through his brother Corey, and they were married on March 18, 2005. Christina and their three children, Sara, Chae Jr, and Chason Riley, survive him. Family was everything to Chae, and he cherished every moment spent with his wife and kids. They enjoyed family movie nights every Friday, weekend trips up north, barbecuing, comic cons, and playing video games together. Chae was known for his love of football so much so he coached his son’s football team. He loved the Lakers watching basketball, and he was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Chae had been working at Oakland University since 2012, where he was a diligent and respected employee who took great pride in his work. However, the role of his lifetime, and one treasured above all others, was that of a loving husband and father. Chae was a devoted family man who went above and beyond to provide for his loved ones.
Chae is survived by his wife Christina Riley, their three children Sara, Chae Jr, and Chason, three sisters, and two brothers: Cherylrese Henry, RuShawnda (Devron) McCall, Andrea (George) Peoples-Beard, Corey (Shyvonda) Pritchett, Johnnie Franklin III; grandmother Roberta Franklin; sisters-in-law: Angelina (Brian) Parcham; Rachel (Antonio) Aguilar; Cynthia (Tomas) Betancourt; and brother-in-law Paul Juarez Jr., His Godmother Aunt Josephine Hall. Honorable mention LC Riley. Chae also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, including dear friends, Adam Brush, Mr. George and Rhonda Pitchford all of whom he loved dearly.
Chae was preceded in death by his son Christian Chae Riley, his mother Lynette (Peoples) Harrold, his father Johnnie Franklin Jr., his father-in-law Paul Juarez, his mother-in-law Sara Juarez, and his grandparents: Johnnie Franklin Sr., Ovella Bond, and LC Peoples, and his special nephew Shane Anthony Peoples-Welch, and his Godfather, “Uncle Bo” Samuel Hall.
