Cathy Jean “Ma Cat” Cech of Burt, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, companion, and sister passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at her home. She was 62 years old. Cathy Jean Cech was born on January 30, 1958, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Joseph and Colleen (Robard) Cech. She was a proud graduate of Buena Vista High School. Following graduation, she began working as a machinist with Johnson Carbide, retiring in 2000 after 23 years of dedicated service. Cathy enjoyed working on puzzles and fishing. She loved art and won many awards for cross stitching at the Saginaw County Fair. She was also a gifted and talented sketcher, especially capturing portraits of dogs and horses. Above all, Cathy treasured and cherished her family, granddaughter, and her two beloved dogs: Penny and Deoghee. She will forever be remembered for her hard work ethic, her compassion, and her selflessness to anyone in need.

Surviving are a daughter, Nicole Madlin of Birch Run; granddaughter, Nevaeh Madlin-Smith of Birch Run; loving companion of 10 years, Johnnie Chaltraw of Burt; two brothers: Anthony (Victoria) Cech of Saginaw; and Lonnie Cech. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Richard Joseph “Ricky Joe” Schneidmiller and Michael Thomas Cech; sister-in-law, Michelle Cech.

Honoring Cathy’s wishes a private service was held and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the family c/o Nicole Madlin.
