Brendan James Stevenson, 42, of South Lyon, Michigan, passed away on January 16, 2026. Born on May 22, 1983, Brendan graduated from Allegan High School in 2001and from Eastern Michigan University in 2006. He spent most of his education years at Allegan Public Schools, including time in Saginaw with family. He was a member of Newburg United Methodist Church, in Livonia.
He was a four-year letter winner on the golf team at Allegan High School and captain his senior year, a member of the varsity tennis team and was a member of the Allegan HS marching band, being named drum major his junior and senior years.
Brendan's life was marked by his passion for golf, learning to play at five years old with his dad. His happy place was Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club, which he played over 20 times, as well as teaching his son Ethan to play the game he loved. Brendan was a beloved MSU fan and always rooted for the Spatans. In addition, family was immensely important to him, including his cherished grandparents. He loved being at the family retreat at Beaver Lake near Alpena and viewing lake sunsets. Brendan was a loving, caring son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and loyal friend.
He is survived by his son, Ethan (and Ethan’s mother Katie Stevenson); his mother, Susan Kurtycz-Murphy and step-father, Gerald Murphy; step-mother Nancy; father James Stevenson (Carole Miller); uncle Jim Werner; and his brothers Nathan, Christopher (Alyssa), Daniel, Jay Murphy and multiple cousins.
A memorial service of Brendan’s life will be held Saturday, March 7 at Four Points Church in Saginaw (Thomas Twp.). Visitation begins at 10:00am until time of the service at 11:00am. Pastor Kenny Walkup will lead the celebration of life service.
All are encouraged to attend a luncheon at the church, immediately following the conclusion of the memorial service.
There will be time during the service for anyone who desires to speak about their life experiences with Brendan.
