Betty J. Sheppard

Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved friend, devoted volunteer, and faithful servant passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Saginaw Senior Care & Rehab Center, with her friends at her side. Age 85 years.

The daughter of the late Frank Otto and Rittie Belle (Childers) Zerby, Betty was born on August 13, 1941, in Cardington, Ohio. She married Rev. Larry M. Sheppard on November 26, 1959. They shared 53 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on February 29, 2012. Betty faithfully served her Lord throughout her life through a missionary to Colombia, as a Pastor’s wife, and dedicated servant in churches throughout Ohio and Michigan. She also devoted many years to the City Rescue Mission, sharing Christ's love through compassionate service. A lifelong student of God's Word, Betty enjoyed reading, studying Scripture, and discussing biblical theology. Following her husband's passing, she hosted Bible studies in her home, continuing to encourage others in their faith. Gifted with an eye for design and a sense of hospitality, she brought beauty and warmth to her home, the rescue mission, and the homes of friends. Above all, Betty will be remembered for her servant's heart, steadfast faith, and genuine care for others.

Surviving are her nephew, Jeff (Lori) Williams; and many very dear friends.

Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Rick Henry will officiate. Burial will take place later at Glendale Cemetery, Cardington, Ohio. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
