Betty Jane Rottman

Betty Jane Rottman of West Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully Monday, July 1, 2024, at her home. She was 95 years old. Betty Jane Kretz was born on July 9, 1928, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late George and Elizabeth (Collins) Kretz. She was a proud and early graduate of the Catholic Schools in Saginaw, Michigan. Following graduation, Betty immediately joined the workforce. While working at Sieman & Peters, she met Nelson Reynolds, they were united in marriage, their union bringing in three beautiful children into the world: Alan, James, and Cheryl. Betty later married Richard Rottman celebrating over 25 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 7, 2015. She worked for many years with General Motors in accounts receivable at various locations, retiring to help her husband run his business, the Bell Bar. Above anything in this lifetime, she loved being a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Betty enjoyed celebrating the special moments in her family's lives by sending them special birthday and anniversary cards. She was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Melbourne, Florida, and previously at St. Mark Episcopal Church in Bridgeport. Betty enjoyed spending time painting the crafts Dick created, as well as delicately painting figurines. She loved socializing with other people, especially at her retirement community activity center where she played Bingo and multiple card games. Betty had a very sharp mind and would often work on putting together puzzles as well as reading her romance fiction novels. Above all, she loved spending time with her beloved family and friends. Betty will forever be remembered for her selflessness to anyone in need, for always taking the higher road and putting her best foot forward in all situations, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter: Alan (Annette) Reynolds of Grayling; James Reynolds of Melbourne, FL; Cheryl Reynolds of West Melbourne, FL; five grandchildren: David Reynolds of Ortonville; Jarred McVay of Colorado; Aaron McVay of Colorado; Melissa Douglas of Mio; Catherine "Katie" (Luke) Pukatch of Alexandria, VA; 2 great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: Barbara Brockett; George (Ellie) Kretz Jr.; Darrell Kretz; Sharon (Jim) Howell. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends too numerous to list but held closely to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Kretz; an infant granddaughter; six siblings: Ken, Jacquie, Elaine, Gloria, Beverly and Tom.

The family would like to thank the deacons and staff at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for all the love and care they provided for Betty and the family.
