Betty Ann Johnson Swan Haven Formerly of Merrill Passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Bavarian Comfort Care. Age 70 years. Betty Vaninwagen was born December 19, 1942 in Harper Woods, Michigan. She married Joseph Roy Johnson, May 8, 1965. He passed away January 4, 1996. She was employed as a medical secretary for Dr. Bowles and later by Saginaw Medical Center (Covenant). She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Merrill and enjoyed playing cards, crafts and gardening. Betty was predeceased by her husband and her daughter, Margaret Johnson, January 21, 2000, and a son, William R. Johnson, September 14, 2011. Surviving are a granddaughter, Sarah Johnson and Sarah's mother, Gloria Williams; a brother, George Vaninwagen and a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jerry Long; several nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral liturgy will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Merrill, MI; Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from Noon Monday until the time of the funeral liturgy.
