Bertha Ayala Valls

Bertha Ayala Valls Born June 7, 1927, in San Antonio Texas to the late Maria Antonia DeHoyos and Jose Angel Ayala passed away May 27, 2025, peacefully at Covenant-Harrison in Saginaw Michigan.

Predeceased in death by her beloved husband of 73 years Arturo Valls Jr, daughter Theresa Valls Shields, her parents, 10 Brothers and 5 sisters.

She leaves behind four beloved children who she loved dearly, Rachel (Rick) Andersen of Omaha Nebraska, Arthur (Tammy) Valls III of Saginaw Michigan, Denise Chavez of Trophy Club Texas, and Yvette (Shannon) Blanton of Hawkinsville, Georgia, 11 Grandchildren, 23 Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild. Along with many nieces and nephews, whom she shared a special bond with.

She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1945, she worked for the Saginaw Public School District at Loomis Elementary, Webber Elementary and the Millet Learning Center as a teacher’s aide.

She was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church, enjoyed playing cards, Rummikub, scrabble, word puzzles, dancing, reading and going to the casino and most of all spending time with the family. She was a strong woman who provided a solid foundation for her family. She was loved and will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank the staff at Covenant-Harrison for the wonderful care they provided for their mother.
