Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at his home, with his family at his side. Age 73 years.
The son of the late Benard B. and Geraldine C. (Wing) Haller, Ben was born on October 30, 1951, in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Saginaw High School with the class of 1969. Ben excelled in sports throughout his life, starting as a standout quarterback in high school and college, setting numerous records. Ben continued his football journey at Michigan Tech before transferring to Northwood University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Advertising. He married Cheryl Ann Harris on September 15, 1972. They shared many wonderful years together. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2020. He worked for the Saginaw ISD since 1978, as a Recreation Director at the Harley Outdoor Education Center until he retired in 2011. A passionate athlete, he participated in skiing, golfing, hockey, boxing, ping pong, and had a notable talent for softball, winning numerous trophies. Ben played for the Michigan Charity Football League and was a member of the semi-professional Flint Sabres Football team. His achievements were recognized with an induction into the Michigan Touch Football Hall of Fame. In addition to his athletic endeavors, he was also an accomplished artist and painter, showcasing his creativity and dedication in the arts.
Surviving are his son, Sean (Kim) Haller; grandchildren, Alexis Haller, Devin Haller; great-grandchildren, Jayce, Brinley, Eleanor; brother, Bill (Lana) Haller; and beloved dog, Betsie. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Honoring Ben’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will take place from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Hartley Outdoor Education Center.
