Beloved mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, Barbara passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth, with her family by her side. Born on December 6, 1936, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Otto and Lena (Ballien) Steinke, Barbara’s life was a testament to quiet strength, devotion, and love.

She enjoyed puzzles, solitaire, and the simple pleasure of tending to her yard. Known for her gentle spirit and steady, comforting presence, Barbara had a way of making everyone feel welcome and cared for.
She is survived by her children: Brian (Barbara L.) Schneider, Steven (Lori) Schneider, Craig (Shelly) Schneider, Matthew Schneider (Shelley Ritchie), and Beth (Brad) Eurich; her grandchildren: Justin (Christy) Schneider, Brent (Sara) Schneider, Anna (Caleb) Behrmann, Austin Schneider, Cameron (Sara) Schneider, Mallory (fiancé Jake Nuechterlein) Schneider, Benjamin (Lauren) Schneider, Molly (Josh) Thielker, Zachary Schneider, Gabraelle (Tyler) Foune, and Caitlyn Eurich; as well as thirteen great‑grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Alongside her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her siblings: Wilbert Steinke, Ruth Lambkin, Malinda Jarzabkowski, and Harold Steinke.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1020 Court St., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. David Naumann will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A private burial will follow.
